Our little man is growing up so fast!
I really can't believe Chase is four weeks old! Time is going by so fast. He is beginning to really be alert more often and is recognizing us-not just our voices. He is still sleeping really well and usually sleeps for five hours and is only up once at night. During the day, he eats every three hours. I am beginning to try and get him to have "awake time" more often but I am not pushing it. If you have read the Baby Whisperer, he is a mix b/t the angel baby and a textbook baby. So, in reality, I don't need to push him b/c he has a great schedule of his own at this point.
This past week, he did a few things for the first time. He had his first awake times with the activity gym. He loved looking around at the black and white stripes. He also began taking a few naps in his crib. This was not as hard for me as I thought it would be. At three weeks, I couldn't imagine putting him in there all alone but I know that being in there, secluded and quiet, is a good way for him to nap. He needs down time just like the rest of us. He also traveled with me to his first staff meeting yesterday. We were there eight hours and he did fantastic!
His Papa and family also came to visit this past week. My sister, Melody, also came. We went to three soccer games and out to eat several times. One day we were out so much that he slept all day. We paid for that (or should I say-I paid for that) as he wasn't ready for bed until 3:30 a.m!
As for our adjustment, we are doing fabulous! When friends have commented on how well all is going, I tell them I am surprised at how easily I transitioned. I wasn't sure how I would do with losing sleep, breastfeeding, maternity leave, etc...but it has all come so naturally. I love every moment and feel so blessed. I really feel like God really went out of His way on this one! Words cannot even describe how I feel when I look at Chase. He is the fulfillment of a long awaited promise. The road to him was long and hard but he is definitely worth it! I feel like I have been reborn almost-in a new season of life-into a totally new experience and I couldn't be happier.
